BARiT® Kunstharz-Belagstechnik GmbH supplied seamless epoxy resin-bonded terrazzo coverings, which were installed seamlessly in various slip resistance classes of R 12 V4, R 11, R 10 and R 9 in accordance with the food ordinance DIN 10506. For this project, BARiT® supplied the 200 m² floor construction for the commercial kitchen. In order to be able to warp pipes close to the ground, a 110 mm high bonded thermal insulation fill and a low-shrinkage 80 mm thick Thermorapid screed were installed. The BARiT® drainage system comprised box channels, slot channels and floor drains. The gutters and drains were worked seamlessly to avoid maintenance joints. The BARiT kitchen floor was installed on the upper composite seal from BARiT and thus protects the wear layer, because a waterproof seal always consists of a wear and sealing layer.

Floor Construction & Fire Protection

Due to the large commercial kitchen, which is centrally located on the campus area, fire protection is an essential point so that there is no risk of suffocation in the event of an uncontrolled fat fire. The BARiT® kitchen floors and terrazzo coverings correspond to the highest fire protection class that synthetic resin-bonded floor coverings can achieve: Bfl-s1 (flame-retardant, low-smoke).

 

Waterproof & Sustainable

A decisive criterion for a durable floor construction in a large scale-kitchen is watertightness. BARiT® has all the necessary approvals for the upper bonded seal according to DIN 18534-part3, W3-I, performance class C, which are required in commercial kitchens. It is important that the seal has a general building authority test certificate. Because audits by an independent institute document the tightness of the systemic structure in the installed state for the planner and builder. BARiT® coverings thus provide planning security in the event of a possible leak. They have been tested for their emission behavior in accordance with AgBB, and are low in emissions and free of harmful substances.

 

Hygienic & easy Cleaning

According to the food hygiene DIN 10506, great importance was attached to the fact that all rising components, such as covings and device bases, as well as overlapping surfaces, such as under the dish washers, were modeled smoothly in R 9. Thanks to the smooth surface, the jointless BARiT® flooring can also be easily and hygienically cleaned. The slip-resistant kitchen floor in R 12 V 4 meets all the requirements for accident prevention in large kitchens.
